So let me ask you this honest question. If this is a Walmart issue (not paying enough) then where are the tent cities like this in Arkansas? Or in Tennessee? Montana? Delaware?
Walmart wages go a lot farther in states where costs are managed better (rent, etc).
Extrapolate a little.
There is a point past which a country becomes dysfunctional.
I live in Colombia (the country) mostly, I make over 4 million USD a year and I'm ok rich, not the richest around by hundreds of millions but ok. In California? I'm a relative pauper in the equivalent neighborhoods. That is insane.
In Colombia there are some socialist rules that keep the middle class pretty broad. For example monthly rent is capped at 1% of the value of the property. Its not great but it helps stop (slow..) areas become run-away expensive. Property speculation here is massive, but it could be a lot worse. Colombia might be a shit-poor country by comparison but the lowest earners here are way better off than in the US I feel. Far mentally happier people.
My GF is a university professor and she was able to buy her own 3 bed 100 square meter apartment in a good area of the city. Inconceivable in much of the west now.
Look at the video posted before, it is not partisan I believe. Explain to me where the bottom 20% are going to get a dollar between them in another 20 years.
