"The U.S. population grew by the smallest rate in at least 120 years from 2019 to 2020, according to figures released Tuesday by the U.S. Census Bureau — a trend that demographers say provides a glimpse of the coronavirus pandemic’s toll.

"Population growth in the U.S. already was stagnant over the past several years due to immigration restrictions and a dip in fertility, but coronavirus-related deaths exacerbated that lethargic-growth trend, said William Frey, a senior fellow at The Brooking Institution’s Metropolitan Policy Program.

“I think it’s a first glimpse of where we may be heading as far as low population growth," Frey said. “It’s telling you that this is having an impact on population."

"The U.S. population grew by 0.35% from July 2019 to July 2020, an increase of 1.1 million people in a nation whose estimated population in July was more than 329 million residents, according to Census Bureau estimates.

"An analysis by Frey shows that it's the smallest increase this century and smaller than any in the last century as well. At the height of the Spanish flu, the growth rate from 1918 to 1919 was 0.49% — even with U.S. troops abroad during World War I."

You got to be a fucking desperate lefty to blame the migration on forest fires.

2. I suspect that like NY the exodus were be far more apparent if we were not
replacing income tax payers with millions of immigrants.

Taxpayers are voting with their feet and letting the leftist govt's know this is not OK.

This is the real deal
If you vote for bigger govt... and you have half a brain... you demand better govt.

When you get worse govt... you go back to voting smaller govt or you leave.

Satellite images show the wildfire smoke making California air quality the worst in the world

"New satellite images show the smoke from wildfires that's drifted 600 miles into the Pacific Ocean, and made California's air quality plummet to "very unhealthy" and "hazardous" levels.
There are currently 26 major fire incidents in the state, according to Cal Fire. The largest right now are the LNU and SCU Lightning Complex fires.

"Those two fires, burning north and south of the greater Bay Area, are affecting roughly 226,100 acres.

"Widespread air quality index measurements in the "very unhealthy" (AQI 201-300) and "hazardous" (>300) range are being seen in Central and Northern California, including the greater San Francisco Bay area and Central Valley, according to Environmental Protection Agency measurements.

"These levels are rare in the Bay Area, and even healthy adults can experience immediate health impacts from short term exposure to these levels of fine particulate pollution," Erin DeMerritt of the Bay Area Air Quality Management District told CNN. "Exposure to wildfire smoke can irritate the eyes and airways, causing cough, a dry scratchy throat, and irritated sinuses," DeMerritt added, "it can trigger wheezing in those who suffer from respiratory illnesses."

Just imagine... if they followed proper forest management practices then California would not have the worst air quality in the world.

Thats great news.People are moving to other states while still voting democrat, especially on the federal level.
The national GOP is an embarrassment. If you look at TN they do a better job than blue states at working with lower revenues. Not all red states do a good job as AL, MS, LA, and WV show.
Climate Migration Has Come to the United States
After living through a spate of record-breaking wildfires, some Californians are opting to leave the state.

"In September of 2020, California was in the midst of a record-setting heat wave. The hot and dry conditions fueled fires all over the state, and smoke from wildfires hundreds of miles away hung over the Bay Area for weeks. Andrew Kornblatt woke up one morning at his home in Berkeley to find that the air had grown cool and still, and the sky was an eerie orange.

“It hit at the lizard brain part of your noggin, trying to tell you to just run,” Kornblatt said. “And you’re thinking to yourself, well where are you going to go with this flight response?”

"By November, Kornblatt and his wife, who both grew up in the Bay Area, had left California for Oregon.

"They’re hardly alone. At least 57 percent of Americans believe that weather- or climate-related events will influence their future moving decisions, according to a recent study published in Climatic Change.

“We’ve never asked this kind of question before in the context of the United States. Because climate-induced migration has always been discussed in the context of the global south,” said Byungdoo Kim, a doctoral candidate in environmental communication at Cornell University and lead author of the study. “But recently, we’ve been through a lot here in the United States.”

"It’s not just California..."

They’re not moving out of Florida so much which they say is going to be underwater.
Most climate migration at this time is internal. In FL real estate is being sold on the coasts and snapped up on the higher (lol) ground. Already happening.
