Among the options Schwarzenegger presented is eliminating CalWORKS, the state's welfare-to-work program. The program provides a maximum $694 monthly cash assistance for families and helps single mothers with child care and job training.

Gina Jackson, a single mother who lives in Fremont in the San Francisco Bay area, said she would not be able finish her college degree in political and social science without the state's assistance. She currently receives about $1,000 a month to cover after-school care for two of her four children.

"I certainly can't take my kids to school with me every single day," said Jackson, 45, who was laid off from her job as an administrative assistant two years ago.

An administrative assistant with 4 kids Where's the daddy(s)? oh, I forgot, modern feminism tells us they are not necessary and we all know that admin assistants pull in more way more than enough cash to support 4 kids. Anyway this hard charging admin assistant was laid off and set her sights on political and social science ! and the people of CA helped pay

Perfect example of one of the reasons that the modern left is bankrupting us. Multiculturalism also plays a role I would imagine, single mom with 4 kids and no spousal/child support is most likely a black woman. Why it would insensitive and racist to point out that a 70% out of wedlock birthrate is destructive and irrresponsible behavior.

I'm a realist, and going to school for poly sci when you have 4 kids is stupid.

So is going to war while cutting taxes which does more harm than a single mother with kids getting 12k a year.

That would be a choice, not a command if not met that would result in property confiscated with a long prison term.

What has the choice of voluntary giving under your own free will got anything to do with the socialist government's mandatory confiscation of your property and labor?

Don't even go there hermit, I've shown you the numbers and since you can't understand simple mathematical concepts you are incapable of numerical comparisons. You alos once again didn't read carefully enough, this was a state program. The state of California did not go to war and the state of California is bankrupt. The article gives an insightful anecdote of the thinking inside the mind of an entitled leftist and how this serves to destroy economies when it takes over the mass psychology.

The mother is stupid and is not helping herself, a degree in poly sci is irresponsible.
