California dreamin'

How do you find out net immigration (short term) of a State? I suspect that for every sorry ass Midwesterner who thought the streets were paved with gold in CA or wanted to get into acting... :) and now is leaving in tears is replaced by 3 Asian immigrants with money coming to CA. This is what I perceive right now...
I know a woman from china who just bought a house in Fairfield and has shitload of family money from mainland china....she is one and there are THOUSANDS like her..who would NEVER go to Texas or some other hellhole EVER. She drives a Mercedes and has a rolex not that it matters to me..... :)

Just watched the David Tice interview on Bloomers. He is expecting a drop in the S&P 500 to the 400 level - ouch !! His fund has been a top performer for years. So no novice there.

I live in Sacto and assholes from BA (bay area) refer to Sacto as a hellhole but they are usually the stupid morons who soon will leave CA, good riddance...

I lived in Northridge on a hill with a view of, and about 11 miles from, the epicenter of the 71 Sylmar quake.. about 65 people died, most were in a public sector built hospital that just twisted apart... we had to clean up the kitchen because of stuff dumped out of cupboards, put the refrigerator back where it was, find the cats.... that's it, single story houses don't get much damage... I lived in Palmdale and worked near Northridge in the 94 Northridge quake... it was a real bad time for me, I got woke up early, had to straighten some pictures on the wall, then I had a month off work with pay... I worked for the most bitchin' multinational German corp on the planet at the time, they had insurance to cover employee pay in disasters... not many died in that one either...

What would be a major economic disaster for insurance companies is if the fault that runs through the wealthiest part of Orange County up through Beverly Hills ever really let loose with a rip snorter. It is estimated that would be the biggest economic disaster to ever hit the US. Still, you would go back in two years and everything would be repaired and back to normal...

Regarding the left being in charge.. I find it odd that Richistan is decidedly to the left... the idea that Republicans are the party of the wealthy is silly, Democrats are the party of the wealthy. I guess that points to the notion that the public sector is having so much of the GNP flowing through it's hands that that's where the money is at nowadays... and it's up for grabs if you are a Democrat, nobody will come and bust you... Senator Feinstein gets caught rather often blatantly steering money to her husband's company and it just hits the news and then it's not news anymore... I see the public sector as a double digit IQ person with trillions of dollars and lots of new friends all the time...

Now that forecasters are officially quantifying the state of Nevada's inability to function properly, let's review, just for the nonce:

Nevada is already the cheapest state in the nation -- for the size of the state's economy, Nevada spends less on state government than any other state.
Nevada's tax structure is already one of the most regressive in the nation.
Nevada is one of only three states without a corporate income tax or a gross receipts tax on business (the other two being the mostly uninhabited pseudo states of Wyoming and South Dakota).
Probably in no small part because of 2 and 3, Nevada's budget shortfall was already the largest in the nation even before release of the latest numbers revealing that the state is more broke than earlier projected.
Taken all in all then, proportionally, Nevada will now be cutting more money than any other state from services that are already funded less than in any other state.

There's a big difference between a high-tax socialist state that is broke because of out of control spending....and a low-tax (no income tax), small gov't state that is in a bind because of reluctance to tax and spend. I think the latter is preferable. Stosh

Politics doesn't matter much anymore in picking a place to live. Public education sucks no matter almost where you go so your kids are going to be in Christian Schools if you have a brain at all. The people suck pretty much overall, the old ones are on multipe meds, the younger ones are described in the book "The Dumbest Generation". The food sucks with regard to how much actual nutrition is in it almost no matter where you go so you are going to have to spend a small fortune on supplements or get a small farm and range feed chickens and goats or search out those products, and they are not available in many areas. The medical system is insane almost anywhere you go so you are going to want to really learn a lot about therapies that the doctors don't typically offer, some are fantastic and much cheaper than the weird stuff the doctors do like knee replacements and chemo.

I'd just go for the weather and high income area where all the really quality stuff is likely to be found... once you find one of those areas the political considerations will fade into the background.. it would have to become Venezuela before it mattered much at all..

The US people don't understand quality, they understand cheap, and they then cheap themselves into misery.. Quality is a bitch, first you have to find it, and that with a zillion cheap assholes waving and shouting constantly, then you have to pay for it...

Austin has ungodly heat, big-haired madeup women, no waves, rednecks, and redneck boating, catcus. Town Lake, no going barefoot due to those god forsaken stickers, No pork ribs..only beef ribs (ugh) Should I go on?
