The key words are "at times" ...
 
I average 1900 kbps down and 350 up on TWC RoadRunner Houston (cable- residential). On bad days about 1500/300 on good 2100/375.
 
When cable modem first came to me I was one of the first in the hood to get it.

Pretty much 800K up and down.

Now, it's a couple years later and DSL is available. I just got it as a backup, but it looks like its going to be primary.

DSL is 1000K down and 250K up
Cable is down to 300K up and down.

You never know unless you do a side-by-side comparison at YOUR location.

What site do you use to test your upload and download speeds?
 
I've used both. I've used DSL more than cable, but in my experience, cable has 3x the bandwidth, better stability, and quicker ping times.
