Cabin's journal of buys, sells, and covered calls...

US:

The median time from diagnosis to initiation of chemoradiation was 28 days (IQR 19–41), and the median time from diagnosis to surgery in patients receiving primary surgical treatment was 23 days (12–40) for all hospitals. FIGURE 2: Median time from diagnosis to first treatment by hospital type.

Canada:

The median wait time from diagnosis to the start of chemotherapy in Canada is 32 days, with 47% of patients starting treatment within 28 days. Radiotherapy at 49.0 days
As I said, it is my personal experience, not statistics.

Regarding statistics, median makes sense if you have a median cancer.

Like options, it is the tail events that drive the profitability/outcome. if you are unfortunate enough to occupy the tail, e.g., incurable lung cancer, it could be a very different story.

Take care.

Enjoy whatever premiums you are paying. Save a thought for the significant number of Americans who aren't adequately covered for medical emergencies. Some go bankrupt in those situations and others desperately look for help online from strangers. Others just don't get cared for at all because they can't afford it; I suppose some of those would have to wait in Canada but waiting is better then never.

Both systems are broken. I was joking about my response...Hope you could see that.

To talk about the problems would take hours...Who gets a kidney or part of a liver transplant and why?

In the US you have to start from the ground up...
