Bye-bye reg T

Actually, that statement is incorrect. There is no req beyond:

1) Brokerage approval by SEC
2) Margin account minimums -- brokers do have some discretion

Call IB and ask them. They will tell you.

Actually, they called me. There is no SEC $req for PMAs. Someone from Timber at the PHLX called me last week to let me know. He didn't know what IB would require, but he was certain it would be 100k or less. Broker discretion.

100k to 500k minimum.

does that mean initial margins req for equities will be 15% of stock value?

is that correct?

that would increase buying power a lot.

Dude, how many times are you going to change your tune? In an hour we'll have you down to $1,000. :D

I said 500k down to 100k at some point in the future. Like I said, moot pt for 99% of ET.

We need to consolidate this convo. Do you really believe $100k is a problem for most IB clients?

I never said most IB clients. I said most of ET. Biiiiiiiig difference.

Peace, don't destroy my thread. This is a serious discussion. I am sure there are many who will put more money in their IB account to get this new margining.

It doesn't even look good on paper.

That's all it really is. Just paper. Or more like digital code of the paper.

1920s all over again.
