I've come across this scenario but it is outside my experience - looking for seasoned advice:
Big short position put on. Stock halted due to fraud investigation. Halt drags on, and on, and on, meanwhile borrow interest turns out being a bigger fraud than the company had going in the first place. And it is all likely being pocketed by the brokers??
Are their options for buying back stock in such a scenario? How to go about it ... much thanks.
