Yes, and more importantly, everyone is starting to talk about the mining stocks.....in a bullish tone. They've really been beaten down past 12 months. That's why shorting copper now is so dicey. 6 months ago when it was strong was the time to go short.

It's for this reason that 2 weeks ago I bough a Etf that replicates the Chilean sstock market trend, depending from copper.

The copper market has started off on a weaker footing, which some traders feel is "in sync" with the weakness seen in other precious metals prices. Many traders were surprised that copper failed to find much support from favorable economic news overnight from both China and India, which may be due to adverse currency market action and lingering fears of near-term Fed tapering.

Commentary: Copper weak....despite roaring equities and improved economic news from Europe / China.
What does this mean ? Building and construction will remain tepid at best for the foreseeable future.

The copper market appears to be consolidating within the trading range of the prior two sessions during early Wednesday US trading action. A favorable economic outlook towards China from several bank analysts overnight, an ongoing pattern of declining daily warehouse stocks, and increasingly positive outside physical commodity market price action are thought to be providing copper with underlying support.

However, copper is fighting a wave of negative market sentiment in the wake of comments from Chilean officials and central bank forecasts that hinted at the prospect of a possible decline in copper prices back below the $3.00 level. Chilean officials did admit that a decline in Chinese demand for copper couldn't be ruled out yet, and it also seems that upcoming FOMC meeting may cast a long shadow over the copper market until that event is over.

Commentary: This market is one of: "Gentlemen, Place Your Bets". Could break either way....copper futures up slightly despite this news.
 
It’s interesting to note that in the last days the stock prices of Alcoa and Caterpillar have recovered from the long term key supports. Rebound in sight for metals?

Nope, just a dead-cat bounce effect.
Copper down 4 cents this morning.
I think headwinds from the upcoming taper, and this really aged recovery are going to keep the pressure on metals.
 
It seems to me that the whole metals market is showing an interesting work of accumulation. The aluminum for the third time since June has come back into area 35 and the copper is clearly drawing a head and shoulder figure.
