As we have seen, the people in Iran are rising up and challenging the theocrats that have pillaged the country. This was Bush's vision. A vision of a democratic Middle East where the oppressed broke the chains of repression and rose up against the despots ruling their countries. Bush's enemies in the US and Europe said it was not possible. They said the people of the Middle East did not deserve to live in free societies and they were simply not capable of establishing democratic institutions. It is now aparent that the seeds that Bush has sown have sprouted and begun to grow. The question now is whether or not Obama can provide nurishment for the seedlings or will Obama abandon the vision and allow the Middle East to continue to be ruled by brutal, autocratic rulers.
