Bush's 2007 Budget

Quote from mschey:

Advertising creates demand which creates revenue
Advertising creates demand? Are you suggesting that people don't want to have their arthritis treated until they see arthritis medication commercial on TV? Are you suggesting that people are or should be capable of evaluating the treatment they need and comparing arthritis drugs from different drug companies? If that's what you think you should watch a commercial for a drug for mentally retarded.

Advertising drugs to general public should be criminal.

Name one country where socialized medicine is working without any hitches or problems.
France, Italy, Spain, Japan, many others. None of them is absolutely perfect but all of them cost 30-50% less than the US healthcare system, cover absolutely everybody and provide very high quality healthcare.

Take a look at the first hand experience of an american who lived in Japan:

I once dated a pharmacist from Canada who lived here for a while though a visa. She would constantly make fun of our healthcare system.

Wow....brilliant formula...what should we call it. Are you taking a counter position to Adam Smith? Who would have thought we have one the great economic minds of the world mingling with us commoners. Thank you!

Not going to buy it...sorry....It's easy to say that "everyone is covered" ....but they don't have great coverage.

I was at a seminar last year and met a cardiologist from toronto who told me that socialized medicine does provide everyone with basic coverage, but that their is no incentive to invest. The technology falls behind, and the doctors don't keep up on the latest techniques.

If this is what you want...then why not set up a not for profit entity and provide mobile basic health care sevices for free?

SOCIALISM = MASSIVE WASTE OF RESOURCES

I think greed is created by the government constanty stealing 1/3 - 1/2 of your income and wasting it.

I know, I know, you're not going to buy it. Don't let the facts interfere with your beliefs.

And BTW the US's healthcare system is 30-50% more expensive.

but they don't have great coverage.
Every public opinion poll and research shows that they are much more satisfied with their "not so great coverage" than americans with our supposedly "best" coverage.

As a Canadian let me assure you that she had nothing to make fun of.

Canada is on one extreme and the US is on the other.

When the two meet in the middle you will have the perfect health care system.
