For starters, Ike was President when Power's was forced down as a spy flying a reconnaissance mission over Russian airspace.

As far as a valid comparison: try this. Russian's cross the Bering Straight and enter Alaska where they kidnap two American G.I.'s and bring them back to Russia. I can't fathom what an American President's response would be.

True, he was captured during Ike's term, but his freedom was negotiated by Kennedy through prisoner exchange...

As far as what Presidents do if US soldiers are captured, ask the members of the Pueblo...

...and I don't recall Dutch having to bomb Iran to finally end the hostage crisis.
