Bush Explained

Quote from AAAintheBeltway:

I actually agree that Bush is spending too much...So we get a one way ratchet to increase spending.

Ah...an agreement.

The biggest chunk of cheese is defense/nation building.

Cut that out and the rest wouldn't even matter.

Hit that link and see where the money's going.

I'm assuming that the "Other" 14% of that pie is wasted on government bureaucracy.

PLUS, if you cut that 26% on defense spending, the deficit interest becomes smaller, health spending becomes smaller, and veterans benefits also becomes smaller. Now THAT is trickle-down economics.

Quote from AAAintheBeltway:

One of the best features of the private enterprise system versus socialism is the Darwinian process by which investment goes to the highest return.

All I can say is Lumber Tariffs, Farm Subsidies and Steel Tariffs, where once again it is socialism for big business and capitalism for the masses.

All these are big business welfare programs signed off on by the president.

And if you take the lumber tariff alone you add an estimated 15% to the cost of a new home. That is far more of a tax burden on the masses than this silly tax cut non-sense that keeps getting jammed down our throats.

It is only a tax cut if you balance the budget.

....Anyone saying the tech sector is in recovery is dillusional. Most of us are concerned with weather or not we'll be employed in a year.

Work harder ...:)

Cut out the ENTIRE defense budget and I guarantee you Congress will have that money plus more spent by sundown.

These are hardly Republican programs, although plenty of Republicans backed them. Oppose any of these programs and you are immediately attacked as heartless, cruel, mean-spirited, out of touch and in favor of exporting American jobs. Bush has not pleased conservatives with his ready acceptance of high spending. It's ironic that even liberals are attacking him here for it. But of course the Democrats in Congress are constantly demanding even more spending.

In politics it's an unfortunate truism that you usually don't get to choose between the perfect and the abysmal. You usually end up voting for the lesser of two evils. That was true in 2000, and it will be true in 2004. Personally, I feel a lot better with the Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld team running things than with any conceivable replacements.

Run this one by me again. After 25+ years in the business both domestically and outside the country, that seems like a very short term and shallow observation.

I take it there aren't any serious objections then to the apt characterization of US foreign policy?

Come on Kymar, take a page out of the liberals book and help put this apparent hypocracy "into context" for us.

Hell, I posted the damn thing just to get Kymer's angry response. But where is the guy????

I also seem to have pretty well predicted a somewhat moderate (for him) response from AAA.

There is always hope for AAA.

Is there any for Kymer?????

:D :D :D :D :D
