Burn Notice: Boehner warns Obama not use executive power and bypass Congress on Immigration

I say Obama doesn't have the stones for it. He may implement some appeasement measure for the La Raza types but I say he will not "open the floodgates".

The guy could not even close Guantanamo, a facility under his direct and complete control as CIC. He is too timid to even exercise authority that *he actually has*.

Nope, he is gonna blink, hit the presidential bong and then duck out for 18 holes.

"House Speaker John Boehner issued a stern warning to President Obama not to use executive action to bypass Congress on immigration, telling the president on Thursday "he's going to burn himself" and "poison the well" if he goes down that path."
Wow. I'll bet Bamster's trembling in his golf bag. That's like a toothless dog barking at him.

Legit question, has Boehner got any teeth?

Well, lets see...

First he can prevent Obama from nominating so much as a dogcatcher to serve in any position requiring confirmation. No SCOTUS nominee for Mr. Obama. So much for that legacy.

He and McConnell can simply defund any agency given an executive order or any expenditure requiring congressional oversight. The INS comes to mind.

They can defund the implementation of Obamacare and other stupid government examples of folly like "muslim outreach" for NASA and lawsuits by the EPA against people with a pond on their property. They can cut funds to the IRS preventing them from hiring the army of new agents necessary to the Obamacare oppression.

The pursuit of various investigations can be extended indefinitely and pressure applied for appointment of an independent prosecutor. Fast and Furious, IRS corruption, Benghazi etc.

Overtly unconstitutional executive actions may be subject to impeachment consideration.

Not one of those things requires a Presidential signature.

377, you are right and I tend to agree with you but I wouldn't hold my breath on any of that. The republicans have convinced themselves of two things.

One, that they beat back the Tea Party and Cruz challenge and now have enough country club republicans on board to defy them. We'll see how that works out.

Two, they are utterly convinced that a government shutdown is akin to a death sentence for them. They couldn't undermine Cruz fast enough last time. They played down ideology in this election and won big, so they will believe that their key to success is to be as bland as possible. They want to avoid anything that gets them negative media, run out the clock on obama and get back to funding big defense contracts, etc.

It will be interesting to see how this works out, since they all ran on repealing obamacare.
