How about we erect a permanently burning Koran in the middle of the reflecting pond in front of the Lincoln Memorial that runs on methane? Then we could electrify the pond so that the PMD (permanent koran desecration) could not be vandalized or otherwise tampered with.

DC Metro police could have insulated poles to pull errant dead tourists and half-witted dead jihadists out of the pond when necessary.

What is the UN doing in Afghanistan anyway, raping more schoolgirls or just smuggling drugs and spying on US military operations?

Patreus has gone from being someone we could admire to part of the problem. He is in effect justifying the violence, which he should know is instigated by the taliban under the cover of protest. When do any of these politicians rise up in indignation when muslims murder Christinas by the thousands, as in iraq, or burn churches, as in Iraq, Egypt, Pakistan and numerous other mulsim countries?

There is a double standard, just as with Israel and the various terrorist organizations attacking it. We are supposed to walk on eggshells and forfeit our basic Constitutional freedoms, lest we anger muslims halfway around the world. Patreus however sees it as understandable that they would react to this isolated pulbicity stunt by murdering innocent people.

This whole mess and the idiotic reaction of our leaders should make it clear we need to get out of Afghanistan before we completely lose our ability to reason. An corss Patreus off the list of retired military guys who thyink they shuld be president. He is more delusional than even Wesley Clark.

Come on, this is a case where extremists have roused the fury of a carousing group of ignoramuses under the guise of piety. The fact is, these barbarians are always slaughtering other humans. You can tell them someone burned the Koran, or someone tied his shoelaces the wrong way, they'll brain you. The sphere of illiterate Arab-Muslim world is living in the 6th century. Their culture, economy, values, and sociology is at odds with the modern world. The extremists, preaching to them, are no different and are beyond the reach of reason.
