Building my own Core2Duo system

ElectricSavant, no offence but I don't see why practically every hardware discussion has got to be hijacked by people shouting "you don't need that for trading". The point has been made, let it lie.

As for my "adviser" he's just a tech-savvie friend coming up with some ideas but I'd be happy to bin those ideas if anyone has better suggestions. There have already been some good suggestions that I'll look into.

I was going to buy this system but was advised against it due to the cheap motherboard. and RAM.

Just remember this, the 2 main causes of system instability are cheap ram and a cheap power supply, dont skimp on those 2 items, they are the key to stability

The tech geeks like 450 watts or more in Antec or Enermax power supplies ..

For trading you want quiet and reliability. You don't need video power... and in most cases, you don't need much CPU grunt, either.

Asus a very good stable motherboard. Who ever is advising you is talking out their ass. Stay away from enermax products. Just order system you can afford and is good enough for trading and spend the nervous brain power on making money.
