Build the Wall!!

Full disclosure. The wall is not all that important to me- but the additional agents contained in the bill are. Trump has already proven that illegal immigration can be dramatically reduced just by enforcing current law and by letting illegals know that they can be deported at any time for any reason. If he gets into a showdown with the dems and some republicans where they settle on even more agents as a substitute for the wall in some places- all the better in my mind- as long as the illegal entries keep declining.

I have to disagree. I have no idea how effective a wall would be, but if the Israeli experience is any example, pretty effective if it is done right.

We need a wall for two reasons. One, a future traitor like obama could again order the Border Patrol to let in all sorts of people who should be kept out. A wall at least makes that more difficult.

More importantly, the wall was Trump's signature campaign promise. I expect him to either keep it or fight to the bitter end with the republican establishment over it. He's shown very little appetite for doing so.

He needs to build the wall and then go on Univision and smirk about it.

The Israeli wall goes through some highly congested areas and works very well there. Similarly the border patrol agents say there are many areas where the wall is absolutely needed and other areas of miles and miles of open barren desert where technology and additional agents would work better. I would give a lot of weight to what they say before assigning the full 25 billion to the wall. You say you have no idea how effective a wall would be- but we have already learned that assigning more agents at the border and away from the border is having a massively good result in regard to reducing illegals. If there is money to do everything, then fine, but that is seldom the case and not likely to be with this issue. So I would want to be flexible enough to keep funding what is working. If that is the wall then I would want to see that as we go along, and the same with additional agents. Again, I give enormous weight to what the border patrol says they need. If that is a wall in some sections, that's fine. If it is satellite and drone surveillance in some sections, that's fine, or if it is Apache bounty hunters on horse back in some areas, that's fine too. Just show me the numbers going down- or continuing to go down, I should say.

eh, immigration from the south had been declining for the last few years (that may change of course), so even though I still think it's a waste of money, it's infinitely better than some wall. At least there's jobs to be filled and some semblance of effectiveness.

Nope. That attempt to poo-poo the decrease is not going work. That dog simply don't hunt.

The month to month drop compared to same months of last year is drastically off the charts.

I only deal w/facts not partisanship:
http://www.pewhispanic.org/2015/11/19/more-mexicans-leaving-than-coming-to-the-u-s/

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...e-mexicans-were-leaving-the-us-than-arriving/

the irony here is border patrol doesn't really want the crossings to stop, it would make their purpose and hirings pointless.

Nope. Not gonna work. You post allegations or facts about more mexicans leaving over a period of many years. Except suddenly there has been a decrease in border crossing by over 40 to 60 percent since trump took over. Remember just last fall there were all the reports about surges at the border and then a couple years ago the big surge about unaccompanied children etc. Not seeing that today.

Interesting that you referred to the article I posted as "partisanship." I see. So the LA Time is cheering for the right now? giggle. Might want to work on that theory a little.

Keep trying Comrade. I am pretty sure you will get an extra potato in your rations for staying with the dem party script but you are not there yet.
