Hard for myself to view this as a possible currency to exchange for goods with that type of volatility....

I don't understand it therefore I don't trade it but for a trader looking for some moves just trade the hell out of it

chances are Mafia and Drug cartels could be the market makers for bitcoins. SEC has known Mafia has been active penny stock promoter. Bitcoins price looks similar to one of those penny stock parabolic moves.

For the life of me, I don't get how some posters keep referencing bitcoin with penny stocks. Penny stocks are easily manipulated due to their pricing in pennies and low market cap.

Bitcoin is priced over $6000 each. You wanna manipulate the bitcoin market? Go ahead, the daily trading volume is in the billion$

And it's not a stock.

I didn't say I think that. Just if the odds are 50/50 of it going up or down, I'd say the odds of an exponential move higher make it a crazy idea to short it.
