Waggie, no, I don't have a problem with the 144 billion we spent in Iraq. We did bomb them into oblivion you know. What should we do? Just leave that country in ruins? Get serious. Haven't you heard of the old saying, you break it, you fix it. Well, we broke Iraq, and now we have to fix it. Now please oh pease lets not get into whether or not that was the right thing to do ok? Let's stay on topic here.

Now, let's move on to this statement about GIVING 2.9 million of our kids full rides. You are not serious are you? Give them a full ride? I think you meant to say they need to EARN a full ride. I'm not a Democrat, I don't give anybody anything. If my kids want to go to college, they are going to have to earn their way, I ain't GIVING them shit. And I certainly don't want my government, my tax dollars to GIVE them anything. See Waggie, this is where I doubt your conservatism. You keep talking about giving things to people and about what people are entitled to and the way things should be, I keep talking about personal responsibility, earning your way, and living in the real world. They must teach you a different style of conservatism out there, because I don't recognize it.

Why does the federal government even have a role in education? That is the ultimate local responsibility. Schools have declined horribly since the federal government got involved and started using tax money to coerce schools into doing things its way.

It's easy to say how unfair it is that rich parents can provide stuff to their kids school, but the most important thing they provide doesn't cost a dime. It is called involvement. Why can't those poor parents clean up that playground? Or fill in those cracks? Or insist that their kids attend class, study and make it known to the principals that they have hgih expectations for their kids? Is it just a coincidence that asian kids, many of whom arrive here dirt poor, do so well?

Not only that AAA, but there is a very strong correlation between student attendance and their success in school. So the question now becomes, why are these poor kids not showing up to class? I mean can money solve that problem too? They have to want it! The parents have to make sure they even go to class. How can a student learn anything if they are not there? Huh? Can anyone answer this for me?
