Hello there! I´m a brazilian that moved to Austria at the beginning of this year. Before I came here, I used Interactive Brokers and since the Brazilian Real was not an option for currency, I opted to have my funds in USD. After I moved here, I tried to change my address to Austria, but unfortunately, after months, that was not possible and the folks from IB told me that I would have to close my current account and open a new one with my address from Austria. I cancelled the account, but I still didn´t open a new one. Since there are a few brokers that allow their clients to trade in the US and keep the currency in EURO (like IB), I thought of asking here if someone would have another suggestion for brokers from Europe that offer this and compare or compete with IB. Thank you!

I daytrade, so that wouldn't be a problem. And just for the record, I use ETF's.(I didn't write this on the opening of the thread)
I wonder why you reported your change of location in the first place.
I am Austrian living and trading in Asia (with IB as my favorite broker). You can move and open accounts for withdrawals and deposits everywhere you like and still use your IB account. Seriously doubt that you were asked to close and reopen because of relocation.
I simply asked them if there was anything I should do because of my change in address. They told me that I just needed to inform it when I got here. That's what I did, but it didn't work when I actually did it. That's when they told me to cancel the account and open a new one.
So, why don't u open a new account? Don't trust them any more?
Despite the fact that this thing is bizarre (having to close the account and opening a new one), they´ve always been great to me and I have no complaints. But, since I did actually close the account, I thought of asking if someone from Europe uses a different broker or had any other suggestions. Even though it´s hard to compete with them, I thought it was worth a shot, just to see if there was something else out there that I might be missing... I searched through the internet and found nothing... Maybe something different and useful could come up here...
If no other complaints and you were happy then stick with them. As long you keep trading retail there is no competition or improvement in Europe and not even close. Don't have to report all your life steps to them.
