Checked the Hornady Ballistics Calculator... a .44 Magnum carbine produces about 1900 FPE (Foot Pounds Energy)... vs 9mm handgun ~ 340 FPE with +P ammo. IOW... LOTTA THUMP in the .44!
Not only that, you can HIT something with a rifle... even a short one like a carbine... whereas, it's easy to miss with a hand gun.
I'd recommend either one. I love a .44 mag lever action as well. In fact, there are guys out here who will turn your .357 or .44 mag lever action into a tactical version. Blacked out, very light and small optic, super crisp, light trigger, an action as smooth as glass, and numerous other stuff you can add in. All I'd recommend is a trigger and action job on a stock rifle, but if you want a bad ass lever action, it absolutely can be done, and done well. Is strange. My real Dad died unexpectedly last year. He wasn't big into guns, but did have a 100 acre ranch/farm, and damn, he loved lever action rifles. I have the same affliction, lol. Go buy one when you can bro. Is a non depreciating item, does inch up in value, and to this day, is one of the favorites among shtf preppers. Lever action rifle, .12g pump, and a revolver in that same rifle caliber... Believe it or not, these are my top picks for living "outside the wire." (My home)
