Broadband cards for laptop

I'm thinking of taking a leisurely roadtrip to Montana to visit an old friend, and will driving my camper and pulling a boat also.

I want to trade some when I make stopovers at some lakes I have found that I want to stop at to do some trout fishing.

I was wondering if anyone has any experience on road trips, and the connectivity you've had using cards.

I'm aware of the transmit limits/month, etc.

I'm more wondering if you can stream data effectively, as long as one doesn't "load up" on the number of symbols, and has decent reception.

verizon or alltell is your best bet out here but its spotty. doubtfull you will get reception back in the mountians away from the interstates.

You're in Montana?

I'm aware of the reception capabilities. I went to the coverage maps that they provide and did some checks. Not good, LOL....

Any clue as to streaming capabilities?

Anyone?

i am in the black hills of south dakota right next to montana. you cant get broadband wireless in many areas here but you can get the verizon qnc network in any area where you can get phone reception. it is only 14k but you can use ib with it.
it you are in the backwoods areas there is simply nothing at all.
 
I use Verizon and very pleased.

I generally am not trading off the card. I am conducting an internet business off it going down the highway. I would trade off Verizon card but be very careful w/ orders & stops in case I got disconnected going down the highway. I would trade off it if stationary

I travel all accross the country, 70 miles per hour in a car generally no problem. I travel 23 weekends a year. Sometimes in remote areas card will slow down. Also, as I approach a cell tower card will get funny/slow then be ok after you pass the tower. Also card may slow down in real rual areas. Generally interstate coverage very good accross the US.

I travel from NJ to Canada, MN, FL, AZ, GA etc., and very little problem. BE VERY VERY CAREFUL in Canada, as Verizon charges by the bandwidth. It can be very expensive in Canada. Verizon once charge me 1800 extra for use in Canada--I was watching TV lol. (Luckly after many calls Verizon wrote off the charge.)

Also a friend got charge 50,000 on his I phone for downloading a huge file in Canada, which never came through. They turned off his phone & said they would be happy to accept immediate payment for half, lol. I know he did not pay it. He got his attorney involed. He is a very famous former athlete. These Canadian charges are with an all inclusive USA plan. Canada is expensive and TERRIBLE.

Verizon tech support very good. Generally have to get beyond the 1st level of support though.
 
Which is the best wireless ISP? By 'best' I mean which ISP has the lowest latency, fastest speeds for a reasonable price over a reasonable area (mainly metropolitan areas).
 
I use Sprint for my mobile broadband needs. My Samsung Instinct has the ability to use Phone As Modem (PAM) and comes complete with an unlimited data plan. However, my primary broadband connection results from Aircard 595U from Sierra Wireless. It too comes with an unlimited data plan. I've used mobile broadband primarily east of the Mississippi River, so YMMV depending on your travel plans. For a look at Sprint's broadband coverage areas, click on this link.

My mother lives in the Black Hills (Belle Fourche/Spearfish area) and uses Alltel which works pretty well. I just got back from a visit and can say that AT&T service was very limited, even on interstate 90. Verizon is OK, but spotty also.

I use Sprint with the 598U Sierra Wireless card. As far as I know, Sprint limits you to 5G per month. I'm not aware of any unlimited plan.
