I may be biased but after watching million dollar traders I don't think many brits have the psychology to be successful traders. They hold moral values, can't handle pressure and are too naive. That's the general idea you get after watching the show.

I wouldn't trust when setting up your position. it is not like hitting the button on american stock exchanges with .01 spreads. my guess it is like purchasing an option in the otc market before the advent of the cboe. it also i believe it has to be done with a phone. scenario sounds like for addicted gamblers. is this scenario correct?

Now here, we know that's not true. I am just implying that American traders on average may have a better mentality to overcome the brutal reality of trading. (Not American btw!)

zdreg: immigrant Chinese are prominent among prop traders. perhaps they are inherently better risk managers.

The characters for the shows are selected for maximum drama, that's why. Most of them had no or very little experience with trading, of course they're naive. There hasn't been any comparable show in US, so you can't really compare.

Indeed, the screening process is flawed so I am not making any scientific comparisons, just opinions, I did say I may've been biased from watching the show but you gotta admit that the majority of the applicants were an epic fail.
