Liberal Democrats will fight election on halting Brexit, says Farron

Lib Dem leader wants to offer voters the chance to reconsider after key tenets of leave campaign have been ‘proved to be lies’

Tim Farron, the leader of the Liberal Democrats, has vowed to fight the next general election, which he believes “could be very soon”, on a pledge to stop Brexit.

Voters deserve the chance to rethink their decision now the EU debate has moved from the abstract to the visceral, threatening jobs and living standards, he said.

The MP said he respected the result, but added that it was perfectly legitimate to put the question to the British people at an election, because the country was out of control and the campaign had been fought on lies.

Although the party was almost wiped out at Westminster after the 2015 election, the Lib Dem leader sounded bullish, saying the party had achieved its best-ever results in eight years in recent local elections. About 7,500 people joined the Liberal Democrats in the four days after the Brexit vote – an 11% boost to party membership.

Personally, i think everything is cool. The political classes and the media have been fooked and so they may retaliate. But they can fook off.

That is what the rest of Europe is asking and applauding Juncker for him asking Farage that very valid question.

And the hunt has started as well. More and more Polish residents in the UK are attacked and literally brand marked. We are all waiting for the British Reichskristallnacht when European hard working residents in British cities will be forced to wear identifying symbols on their jackets. Labour is collapsing. Nigel Farage out. Cameron out. Boris is almost out. Makes one wonder who can and will be held responsible in the end for all the lies and deceit the exit camp has spewed around. Who is left to be trusted? Looks like Nigel Farage was officially kicked out the European Parliament as well. And then the ridicule at the soccer cup.

Seriously, where is that pride, that arrogance coming from that many British currently display? The country lies in chaos and total disarray and yet they have nothing better to do than hunting down Europeans who live and work hard and pay taxes in the UK and having nothing better to do than drooling over their Europe hatred.

Because UK is still in EU and paying for it? They have decided to get out, but are not out, and the dues are still flowing in to "Junk"er.

Here is the very basic thing about democracy. The only real power democracy has ever had or ever will: The fear of the elected to get the boot next election. That is the flaw of the EU ruling class. They are not elected directly by the people. Being elected/chosen by elected people doesn't count.

Most countries have gone without referendums for decades in peace and with everyone understanding that there are elections of representatives after which such representatives do their job, they represent. If you don't feel properly represented by chief clown Farage in he European Parliament then fuxxing vote him down and elect someone else. Which part of this democratic principle does not fit into your near anarchistic world view?

Most people indeed know better than you that holding referendums each weekend won't work. Most European countries are incredibly proud and happy with their own elected leaders that in turn speak for them in everything relating to the EU. Go on an island or buy yourself a yacht for peace of mind, you seem to have a hard time accepting simple democratic principles.
