A heart attack caused by the compression of his neck. The officer used what he should have known was a potentially lethal level of force when Floyd did nothing to demonstrate that he was a serious threat to anybody's health. The MN law states:
"Whoever, without intent to effect the death of any person, causes the death of another by perpetrating an act eminently dangerous to others and evincing a depraved mind, without regard for human life, is guilty of murder in the third degree and may be sentenced to imprisonment for not more than 25 years."

Sounds exactly like what took place here. Unlike 2nd degree murder, 3rd degree murder does not require intent to kill.

Hard to say. Rarely is there a case where you can say, it's definitely because they were black. However, the data shows there's a bias in the criminal justice system when it comes to targeting black people.
