Breaking: Trump Agrees To Meet Kim Jong Un

Aside from whacking a few Nork nationals overseas here and there what clear evidence is there that North Korea has sponsored terrorism anywhere?

Iran is spending millions, no, billions on terrorism and has executed many attacks even throwing a few bombs around in Thailand. They are a terrorist state.

This would possibly test Trump’s patience and listening skills. I see Trump as a hard charging, get things done status quo busting alpha male who focuses on the short term and makes adjustments along the way. Should Trump handle this opportunity appropiately, his political stock should soar.

The U.S. and Asian cultures have their differences, but I believe our two cultures are compatible.

The prize of a new friend, a new trading partner, geopolitical stability in the region, and greater diplomatic credibility for the United States makes it worth it to take advantage in the opportunity to meet with Kim and break a little bread with him.

This is wishful thinking. I wish it wern't. Trump is a hopelessly flawed human incapable of any of these things. He thinks only of himself and what to say and do to get what he wants for himself. He'll do and say anything, everyone else be damned. Right now he wants to be President and fly in the big green helicopter. If he has to make up lies about others to do it, it's no problem. Lying is second nature for him. He is expert at telling the believable lie. As with any skillful demagogue, the timbre of his voice, his feigned sincerity, his outward confidence, his unshakable conviction and repetitious falsehoods become truth to his faithful followers. They are his path to the green helicopter.

In reality he knows practically nothing.

Trump’s strengths include sizing up people and situations well. He knows how to “preturb the system” in a way to show its weakness. He knows how to use unconventional ways to get his opponents to the negotiating table.

Trump’s weakness appears to include not recognizing or caring how people will respond to his management style. Most people do not understand Trump as he is an most unusual individual. If Trump were more empathetic, he would see more longevity with his Whitehouse staff and would get the benefit of them maximizing their various skillsets.

This exceptional opportunity with North Korea and will likely challenge Trump’s own skillset, personality, and his methodology of conducting negotiations.

The odds of a successful outcome may not be high, but the return on an successful outcome, on many levels, is huge. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. If the United States and North Korea are reasonable in their expectations, such as a freeze on NK nuke production and UN inspector access in exchange for US guarentees and a practical trade agreement, the odds of a successful outcome rocket up.

If Trump accepts this challenge and wins the day, the people of North Korea and beyond will live in a better world. Many would likely see Trump as a better President as well.

Indeed, but they all had a rather serious common enemy- Adolph Hitler- which caused them to overlook a lot or to be fully aware but still have to do it.

That is not true with Little Rocket Man. He is the frigging enemy and the bigger problem. He is not in a position to help us with anything other than knocking his own shit off.

Trump should not go there to immediately poke his finger in his eye. That is not productive and the continuing escalation of the sanctions should be such that he does not need to take a threatening tone because our ongoing actions continue to show that we are serious.

Having said that. I would keep it all business and not waste anytime trying to win Kim over on some kind of charm offensive. We have had decades of that. Instead, Trump should go there in the spirt of our being on the brink of having to take military action against him and he is making a good faith attempt to avoid it and Kim should let us know which way he wants to go. I would stay out of the nasty stuff but keep it all business. This is where we are headed Kim, and our military is training with South Koreans right as we speak. What's on your mind. If you have a proposal, tell us about it because there is no turning back once we start to take action. You saw what happened with Saddam. I don't want to see that happen to you Kim.

I hear some criticism on tv about trump pushing it out to May but I am all in favor of it. Kim is only reaching out because the sanctions are beginning to set in hard. By May it will be all the worse. There is no emergency on our side. All he has to do is not launch anything and we will leave him alone. Not our problem if the sanctions are beginning to take a toll. And he knows that if he tries to launch a couple missiles in order to move us along a little that Trump will just cancel the talks in May and might attack a couple missile sites too. Then what Rocket Man? You think your county is hungry and wobbly now? Try seeing what another year of sanctions looks like and give us a call.

I’m sure Kim’s neighbors, including China, place a value on regional stability. This value can manifest itself with these Asian countries being more amenable to changes in the status quo regarding US trade agreements without retaliation in some way.

It does no good for China for North Korea to screw up and cause a war or a even more massive US millitary commitment to the area.

I’m sure many people in countries that have been on the receiving end of our “diplomacy” look at our leadership across several administrations in the same way as many look at Kim.

We need to look at the realities of this situation as they exist now, and respond accordingly. The US has had a hand in multiple ways, directly and indirectly, in North Korea’s development of nuclear weapons. We helped create this situation and our practical options are limited.

Our Asian allies are probably requesting our assistance in helping to stabilize the North Korean situation. A successful outcome will likely strengthen our alliance with them, and allow everyone to focus on more productive endeavours.
