Quote from ElCubano:

I disagree...since when does Ronald Mcdonald send you out to be shot at???? stop spinning my friend....

Oh man, and normally you are a pretty smart guy El. The point I was referring to, in any organization, whether you work for Goldman Sachs or Burger King, the guys that have the most credentials, the most experience, the best background, are at the top and the guys without the resume, without the skills, are at the bottom. How many poor kids with GED's and no job skills work in investment banking at Goldman Sachs? How many? Come on, I'm waiting. And then answer me this. How many Harvard Graduates go to work for McDonalds upon graduation? How many? Come on EL, shoot me a number.

Quote from Maverick74:

I really don't think you believe that. You cannot be that naive. For the last time, the poor people in this world are poor because of where they are in life. The poor guys on the front line are there for a reason and its not because they are poor. If they had busted their ass in high school and got a 4.0 and got a 35 on their ACT's and went to Annapolis and graduated from the United States Naval Academy, they would not be the poor kid on the front line in the infantry. They would be running the computer operations from the USS Roosevelt as an Officer. Why is this so hard for you to grasp? It has nothing to do with being poor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ha. The world is same whether it is a thirld world country or the top class country. The poor remains poor, irrespective of what grades the poor gets. It is matter of connections, not GPA (used to be, not any more). only 1/100th of the Poor with some guts move up.

just my 2cents.

You seem to be under the impression that your position in life mainly depends on merits. That is a huge mistake! Contrary to the common opinion where you end up in life is largely dependent on coincidence. Ie, imagine yourself being born in the gutters of Cairo and being sent out to bag at age 4. You may have the brain of Einstein, but under these circumstances your qualities will never come to fruitition. Billions of people in the world never get the chance to achieve anything. They are not poor, because they didn't study hard in school, there just was no school!

but we are not in Cairo....in the States; getting there comes two ways..

1) Connections ( 'coincidence' )
2) just grabbing ur pelotas and making it happen ( Mavs point )

I believe I was just there my friend.....I understand your point also. I didnt say it would be easy; but in America amigo it aint impossible. But in general of course thats just the way the cookie crumbles.

Quote from Ditch:

Well, let me ask you then, since you are so well-informed first hand, how many upper class kids are fighting in Iraq, because they WANT to. Every warcasualty statistic of the US shows that the lower social class is heavily overweighed in those. Did it ever occur to you that the dumb masses are doing the dirty work for the political and financial elite? Surely not, you're either to bright or to "patriotic" for that.

I saw this same argument presented as racial inequality, and I believe that is inferred in your argument. Facts don't bear it out. Whites are very well represented in the dangerous combat jobs. What are you demanding?? Quotas along economic lines for combat jobs??
