Quote from rowenwood:
The politicians in the bay area, except for SF's mayor, haven't given their stance on the gay marriage issue. Gay marriage doesn't seem to have overwhleming support even in California. I think that it was voted against at a ratio of about 63 to 37%.
There is an apparent breakdown in the separation of church and state. Dems who usually back gay rights are waiting it out in fear that they'll lose their majority public support. Fucking cowards, politicians are so weak when you wave a dollar in front of them.
On the other hand, Gavin Newsom is turing out to be such an amazing mayor, he may just have a bid for pres in a decade or two when the gay marriage issue is seen as a righteous cause and supported by the masses. He fired the chief of police which tells me he cares more about making responsible decisions than
money. He is dangerous to conservatives and republicans because he is actually a good person, he does what he says, and he does what is right. I've never encountered a politician like him before, its wierd.
