I know this is serious shit, but there is something rather amusing about the way a frenchman gets worked up speaking pigeon english.

must be scary shit though to see regular tv programmes when the french embassy staff are evacuated from Japan

At 1:05-1:35 how white are that guys TEETH?

Another thing for all you drama queens to consider is where are you actually getting your news from.

Let me guess those twin paradigms of virtue and truth - the media and governments :)

Quote from bearice:

It is said that when there is a nuclear bomb explosion, human beings and animals will die/killed but cockroaches will survive. Cockroaches can survive nuclear explosion.

Only 1/3rd right there. In a nucelar war only 3 things will survive -

1. Cockroaches
2. Goldman Sachs, and
3. Keith Richards

Reasssuring to know "The current crisis at the Fukushima nuclear plant was caused not by human error or a design fault", according to the IAEA

"We have no indication of fuel that is currently melting at this point," said James Lyons, director of the IAEA's Safety at Nuclear Installations division.

The current situation was "very dynamic... (but) given the information we have, we have not been told that at this point," the expert said.

Special posting for alias called GTS

He is a mental man masquerading as a normal man, people like him are why world gets into trouble.
He keeps saying this is not Chernobyl. But radiation is out to sea (which will create its own problems)

What part of Western ward wind would have finished Japan as a country don't you understand mental boy.

I think the comparison between the current situation and Chernobyl are laughable. I guess that goes to show you the difference between an event that had no media coverage (and that the Russians didn't admit to until the radioactivity was detected in Sweden) and one this is being hyped endlessly 24/7 by the media.

I'm not saying that this couldn't end up as bad as Chernobyl but currently it is not even in the same league. Chernobyl exploded and spewed radioactive particles over a huge area ( as well as the atmosphere). Contrast that with what we have here, the plant itself is emitting radiation but it isn't spewing tons of radioactive particles.

Please before anyone else makes the Chernobyl reference - take the time to read at least a summary of what happened at Chernobyl.

Japan's nuclear crisis and Chernobyl: key differences

Japan's nuclear crisis is spawning concerns about 'another Chernobyl,' but a number of American and European scientists are cautiously taking the edge off the worst fears.

Apparently whilst the world melts down Obama is going to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil this weekend. After his basketball practice.

Not the time to take a break.

Cut the guy some slack -- transferring the American population's wealth to banking executives and multinationals is tough work.

Quote from AK100:

nobody died In Wales nor in Eastern Europe apart from very near the reactor.

Not from direct radiation poisoning. But it's impossible to claim with certainty that nobody else died from longer-term effects, and increased incidence of cancer and birth defects far from the plant is well-known.

That french guy knows the Japanese are lying.

People are getting are angry at European and American officials saying this disaster is much worse than Japanese people are saying. US has not backed off its statements.

FURTHERMORE

Why are American and British rescue groups leaving tomorrow? They just got there....

And the Japanese stated last night the US and Japan have conflicting info. My ass. This from White House today

U.S. Barack Obama believes that Japan is fully aware of the severity of the nuclear crisis it is facing, White House spokesman Jay Carney insists today. This is despite the US issuing guidelines that far exceed those of the Japanese

There is no conflicting data. The Japanese are lying.
