BP caved in pressure to Obama and that was their bone to placate him. The government will still fine BP into the Billions(anyone remember big tobacco in the 90s) and there is some talk of criminal fines which without a doubt is being investigated by the Attorney General's Office.
BP destroyed the Gulf ocean. I hope the American people get every dollar we are due for having an entire ocean and its fisheries, wetlands, wildlife, tourism, beaches, jobs, industry, destroyed.
BP will not be able to amputate its US operations to limit its liability. We, the US, are still quite the international bully. Don't forget that we recently twisted Switzerland's arm about UBS and had them violate their own sovereign bank secrecy laws.
There's no way that the English gov't would be able to shield BP from the long and greedy fingers of the USA.
