Creativitiy is very much tied in with the ability to DO THINGS... I managed an R&D lab at one point. The wonderfully creative and 90% leftwing scientists there were always up in arms about "functional guys" like myself interfering with their creativity. I was making them turn in their test equipment for calibration and locking cabinets at night so our stuff would be there the next day. You would have thought I was systematically destroying their brain cells to hear the reactions......
Leonardo DaVinci gathered materials for and formulated his own paint, kept perfectly detailed financial records, developed his physical strength to a very high degree, was a property owner, etc. and I can't really find any evidence that he was stifled in creativity.
This amorphous idea of creativity that the left has must be something on the order of spin doctoring on Pacifica radio or something, maybe reinventing government, like reinvention is a specification for something..... C'mon, I've seen you guys up close, I've seen your little squirmy brains in action, forgetaboutit.
i was a scout and learned alot about life..I loved every second of it...also played alot of little league ball and cuban dads were very competitive ..i remember my friends dad always screaming at him in front of all the other parents and he wasn't the only one getting screamed at..hey maybe my dad if he were there would have done the same...my friend turned out fine...but i can see how that can affect a child...i never put any of that pressure on my son...all i tell him is to have fun and try his best...and i only yell if he is eating shit.. 
There is fraud on both ends of the scale, when you encounter the phoniness of the logic of the inferior it brings you down, it re-enforces the negativity of the inferior. "See I was right" "What's the use?" Self fullfilling through your own actions or the actions of the inferior around us.
Holding the logic of the Gods, one encounter the same frauds but the attitude now becomes, I can be better than that. You don't know that you cannot be a God is some metaphoric sense, by embracing the logic of the Gods.

post. nevertheless i try to answer to what i think you
might be saying.
first, i am very sure that the manager of creatives is
better not too much like them. unfortunately many
creative people carry other things with them besides
their creativity. like mindabsentness, unpractical ideology,
lack of financial "abilities" and so forth. i am very sure
that it is not a precondition of creativity to have any
such defect.
i do not understand the leonardo thing. i mean i am
talking about boy scouts here and i do not see the
connection at all.
on your last paragraph i am afraid i need to disagree
(to what i think you are implying). the right wing
uncreativity and book keeping mentality has gone too
far. time to do things differently here. in general i'd
say you righties are a little ... plain at times. and i
do not need to be einstein to see that.
The real question is whether there is a correlation between creativity and liberalism or conservatism. Right or left? It is a blanket stereotype. And for that matter, why does someone with creativity have to lack quantitative skills and visa versa?
My background is in finance and engineering. I currently work as an engineer in process and product developement. Well structured scientific tests, math, physics, etc. In my spare time I paint and sculpt and enjoy learning languages. I claim no political affiliation because I think that partisan voting is the most idiotic nonsense I've ever heard of.
A child doesn't have to be either creative or not. Left or right. If the child is good at something, encourage it. Each has natural abilities and it is what leads to the individual. To say that a creative person needs to be liberal is to unjustly define him.
On the subject of your original post. Scouting is a great organization. The negative aspects that you mention serve many pursposes other than what you refer to. You would be well served to consider all the possible reasons that they might encourage badges and uniforms. Are the ranks you speak of really ranks, or are they recognition of ambition and achievement and a system of helping them progress toward goals?

If the kid wants him be a boy scout, let him be a boy scout. If he wants to wear dresses, try to talk him out of it, but you aint' gonna stop him. Just try to instill some semblance of taste, so that if he wears a strapless number, his bra straps don't show. I hate that in crossdressers.
