Of course they should. But do you really believe that top management in many corporations work so hard and make such correct decisions to warrant their salaries?

There is an old saying, Democracy is a very bad way to rule the society, except that all others are even worse.

Same can be applied to capitalism.

Until someone figures out something better, we should use the best the world offers.

Really? You can find plenty of examples of capitalism without democracy. Nazi Germany being perhaps the worst. And tens of millions were killed.

Shareholders are free to sell their shares if they feel that executive compensation is inappropriate. But that requires people to take personal responsibility for their finances. Why is it anyone's business what an executive is paid unless they are a shareholder in that company?

The captains of industry from before NAZI rule were the same captains of industry during NAZI rule. They benefited handsomely from it as did a number of US corporations including IBM. The economic system was capitalist through and through. What a political party calls itself frequently bears little relation to its true nature.

It is you who doesn't have a clue, and no idea of history.

But if you don't like the example of NAZI Germany we could talk about the spread of European capitalism through the world via vast empires. I don't seem to recall the native inhabitants of any of the colonies being given a vote on their new masters.

Or we could talk about the US backing for any number of military dictatorships and the CIA sponsored overthrow of elected governments in more modern times. Strike out on the democracy side of things there as well. But I shouldn't just single out the US, several European capitalist nations have engaged in this sort of stuff too. Notably Britain and France.
