Bought Coca-Cola and Oracle today...Value investor

I always thought value investing was buying low P/E beaten down names and waiting...

I agree...But things have changed. I wouldn't touch airlines, motels, entertainment in this economy. I already have oil; BP, Exxon, Chevron, PEO...Up to my ears in oil. Money is moving into the US economy from other countries. Also pension funds need to find investments. 0% interest is forcing people to look under any rock they can find.

If inflation rises above 2%, I think the Fed will act and raise rates. But a this moment value has been eaten up. CD money has to go somewhere...Why not Coke??

Boring and dividend yield?
LAND .... 3.75% dividend .... buys farmland and does long-term leases.
I'm bullish farmland long-term. Own some directly and some LAND (covered calls). Options are pretty thin but can get filled eventually with limit orders.

How long you going to wait if the stock doesn't move or worse yet goes down.

If price drops your holding dead money. I don't know what the future holds but as a stok investor I don't like holding dead money. My rule is not to have any losing positions in my portfolio.

Coke...If you get if for a fair price, it seems to be a long term buy and hold.

Oracle is just a guess. If they lose market share, they will downsize is my thought.

Coke...Like clockwork. October 15, 2020

The Coca-Cola Company board of directors today declared a regular quarterly dividend of 41 cents per common share. The dividend is payable Dec. 15, 2020, to shareowners of record of the company as of the close of business on Dec. 1, 2020.

The Coca-Cola Company (NYSE: KO) is a total beverage company, offering over 500 brands in more than 200 countries and territories.

Former farmer in California; almonds, grapes, peaches, dairy (my father in law was a Vet). Much of LAND's property is in the southern party of the Central Valley. We are going though a big time drought right now (fires as we speak in LA). In my town, IT HAS NOT RAINED SINCE MARCH!! Here is what the reservoir situation looks like...Merced south, you see there in no water for trees...Citrus, almonds, pastachios!!

Agree, something to consider.
I thought they were diversified enough though by being in 12 different states.
Also, most of the land in CA has irrigation wells, so not getting surface water. I suppose the wells could go dry or CA could shut them down from pumping if the drought continues.
Wish they had more corn/beans/wheat land in the midwest. Lower ROI but lower risk.

Putting it out there...Good or bad. I did a covered call on both.

Bought Coke (KO), 300 shares at $49.71...Did a "sell to open" for the Jan 22 $55. I got $2.60 ($780.) for it. Good dividend also.

Bought Oracle (ORCL) 200 shares at $57.31...Did a "sell to open" for the Jan 22 $65. I got $4.00 ($800.) for it.

Oracle is harder to evaluate...Almost out of my league on The Cloud and software. The last one I really invested in was Red Hat. Wish I had kept it...I usually make good investments, but I sell early (take those profits and run). I'm afraid they will implode like GE, GM (2008) did to me over the years...
%%
ORCL has been a super strong tech leader;
have not looked a a chart lately...………………………………...…………...……………………...May want to study some etfs, on that/they drawdown more than QQQ/but tend to uptrend more also

Interesting.
Never heard of it.
thnx

EDIT:
I looked it up to see what that dilution was about. Interesting read on their model.

Not joking...The state can tell farmers who, when, and where to irrigate. Who can pump and when!!
