16 slots. I found the DIMM matrix for the 7960:

For 64GB 2x32GB - you use DIMM1 and DIMM2, easy enough. They aren't right next to each other though. That system is a beast. 1TB max RAM.
it can be a complete beast if you want it. 8 slots for raid drives, a terabyte of ram. There’s like 10 fans in the box. I figured it should be able to run my excel pretty well.
From what I can tell there’s really only a few Params to determine the right ram. Speed 4800, rdimm (whatever this means) and 5ddr (whatever that means). I found the Dell part on a ram website. They are selling it for 114 and Dell is selling it for 1000
Me too. Ditched it 3 years ago.

I think I saw you complain about fan noise somewhere else on the board.
I went the other way recently having resisted it for a while and bought a nice custom stationary rig. Huge boost in performance and it's so quiet I can't even notice it's on. Huge contrast to my old laptop where the fan noise could be heard in other rooms of the house.
I like the redundancy and convenience with a laptop, but realistically, I'm not trading at the beach or coffee shops anyway.![]()
