Not all water utilities are government controlled, rather privately controlled. They're free to buy our elected officials who appoint government inspectors and look the other way.

Those that are publicly controlled may be rife with incompetence and/or be internally sabotaged by corporate interests that cripple them to push for privatization. See Flint Michigan.
 
A faucet filter is also in my possession. To be honest, I only recently installed it. Other filters and even systems are available, but they are more expensive. I decided to try this filter after reading a review here. It is good and I am satisfied with it, despite the fact that it is less expensive.

ONE time we had the city waitress SCREAM ''the WATER IS FREE!!'', in answer to my comments ''no i dont want any[city] water/LOL:D:D, with my meal.''
BUT she seemed so hurt + offended; i waited untiL SHE had COOLED A BIT+ then said ok ill have some free water. I drank very little of it...........................................Good thing about city water, it kills bugs+ no telling what else\ a bit quicker:caution::caution:
 
I'm on a well and the water is the best I've ever tasted. The county is talking about bringing a water line up to the other end of the road. I've tasted the county water and I wouldn't give it to a dog. On top of that, the water bills average 80 bucks per month. I will not be connecting.

Of course, there was that time two years ago the pump failed and I had to hand pull the pump up 150 ft. Not fun.
