I did a ranking using multiple factors, and there this underlying stock is among the top positions.
And: as there is still plenty of time till expiration, then the price should be able to develop itself till then.
And: vola currently is low.
Another factor is the overall market: I think the market already has made a turn to north.
All these picks are usually for mid-term (1 to 3 or 4 months).
I'm aware of the fact that some of these picks have closed high, so a short term correction is to be expected, but IMO the overall up-trend should then continue.
"up-trend". You better not let NoVoodooHere and MarketSurfer see that.

A discussion of what you see and why would be GREAT. I think many people on ET including myself would definitely short this one. No way would I go long on JPM here.
Like was said in the other case: this is due to ranking; this stock too comes among the top ones of the sorted list.
In future I'll post some more info to each pick.

So the volume for the day was 7 contracts but your paper trading system took 300.
Oh man, once you start trading for real, things will get very interesting for you.
I think with such a big stock that little position of ~$20k should be no problem regardless of opt qty or OI, don't you think so?
The MMs and the HFT bots would be happy... :D

Not flaming, no desire to pollute a structured journal, but I do not understand why delayed data is used, especially if one has access to a real time simulator.
The reason was already given; just trying it with public delayed data. Ie. making a feasability study..., so to say... :D

If followers do not have access to real time simulator, then that individual "could" reference a delayed feed, but as the baseline, makes zero sense not to use real time...
Never mind, it's just a game, everything is open to verify for everybody with or without RT.

Why not just use simulated gbm data? I thought it was just as good.
Yes, I indeed had thought about that, but you first need to build up the infrastructure, ie. set up a server,
offer web and api-link etc. It would take some time to develop, set-up, test, convince others of its usefulnes etc...

I think the volumes have to be realistic as pointed out above. Also, the historical volatility is not relevant here but the implied volatility. You should post the IV of each option that you sare entering into which is the greatest factor affecting the price.
It might be a matter of taste, but I personally find historical volatility of 3 months more useful.
Regarding volume: come on, that small options position of $20k is no problem at all for such big stocks, regardless of the opt qty or OI.

hey numbnut, how did you like selling a put on vrx? You enjoying that move this Morning?
Yeah, another epic fail:
Valeant Pharmaceuticals International, Inc. (VRX) -NYSE
37.98 31.06(44.99%) 11:44AM EDT - Nasdaq Real Time Price

That's a real example of what we have been telling you for weeks.
You told me nothing, and if so, then surely nothing new.
It is very normal, man, just imagine what the Gauss-curve says... And know that there are more than 7000 stocks in US markets, so expect some such big movers up and down...
Btw, such movements are of course unnormal, they have their cause in external factors like failing an FDA approval test etc...
In Biotech companies such shakers are normal, most people know that...

But, you are unfortunately off-topic here with VRX, because it is not traded here...
And: watch out how you call me in your posting...
