On the positive side, being bored is not such a bad problem to have; I for one prefer that to digging ditches in the desert, for example.We're all bored.Trading is basically just sitting and waiting.

Most people on the top don't sit around idle, they either work or holiday away from work. There is always a new trading method to research, data to analyze. Markets are ever-changing and so should be the trader.
ok, so let me clarify this a little bit. Since I started to trade full time, I've traded in the several different offices but mostly from home. Usually when I traded in the office, it was not only more profitable for me but also a lot more fun. Competition, comradery being the obvious reasons. Several times I had a friend that I traded with using gaming headphones/microphone. Since we were both scalpers we would pick a list of 10-15 stocks in the morning that we both watched. When either one of us saw a setup, we would call it out to each other and trade. Now, I could and do enter price alerts these days, but it's not really the same. It's sort of like playing a video game with another person online. It's more fun, it's more competitive, and the benefits are numerous...

I'm not into scalping so I wouldn't be a good match for you, but I do remember that the IRC chatroom on my first day trading adventure (2003) made things a lot more entertaining and at times helped keep me focused. I can only imagine that an audioconference must take that to an even better level, similar to sharing an actual office.
