I went to church this morning and got the same lecture.
I wanted to go up on the altar and state the other side.
1. Most of would happily agree to collectively take of these kids if were not creating more democrats. 80% of immigrants vote democratic.
2. National Security... and open border will lead to mass terror from some overseas nut jobs. If a dirty bomb goes off... I believe the current members of congress should face deportation proceedings themselves. They are traitors for not sealing the border.
3. Every group that scolds others should looking in the mirror and asked how much they are giving? And is it right to force others to give? Perhaps if we take the govt out of the charity game... we could all fill in the vacuum.
4, If we allow this group in... more will come? Do we ever stop it? Should we not be putting pressure on their current countries to reform and take care of them.
5. So yes we feel absolutely horrible for these kids and will help them.
But... we have political leaders like Harry Reid that will take a good natured bill and turn it into obamacare or amnesty. Our leaders are unworthy not the immigrants.

If my pastor was lecturing me on the necessity of allowing these people to stay, I would ask him where does it end? What about all the poor in Africa? Are we obligated to allow them to come here as well? Asia? Lot of poor people in India and Pakistan. What makes those from Honduras more worthy? The fact they speak spanish?
The simple fact is you cannot have a welfare state and open borders. Name me one other country that does it. Look at Mexico. They are quick to criticize us. They facilitate these people to transverse mexico. Will they let them stay there permanently as refugees? Uh, no.

Actually we brought a great many against their will. Several centuries ago. Which is a large part of the problem.
Security on the border has never been stronger.
It wouldn't have been let alone still be a "problem". Had we sent them back home like we should be sending these illegals home.
