The gross sale of booze is probably unchanged.
The pubs are closed, so the consumer has to buy it from the liquor store.

Booze is part of the "misery index". Divorce too, I think.
With all of the "lockdown"... seems both being expressed.
(In China, government suggested for women to "don't nag" and "wear makeup". Still they had a big jump in divorce filings as the lockdowns were lifted. Mentioning this to my wife, I said "good thing we've got 2 TVs." Actually, we have 10. Go to any room in the house and watch TV as you choose.)

Saw a story about distillers reworking "about to be expired beer" into whisky!! (Beats dairy farmers dumping milk into manure pits, you know.)
A lot of countries learned very quickly from the early part of the 20th Century that booze sales were good for the economy and population.
They briefly made a mistake via prohibiting it...resulting in the rise in very famous criminals and other types of crime on society.
Next, they corrected that via getting rid of those self-destructing laws and has never looked back but the crime that came with the mistake still is with society today.
Funny thing is that when the government here in my country announced the lockdown because of the Coronavirus Pandemic...they immediately announced the liquor sales in grocery stores and SAQ will stay open but will be given a day off on Sunday.
Later in the announcement...they then said Pharmacies and other medical facilities will stay open. Its funny because liquor was announced first as an essential service.

Speaking of whiskey.... ever get your hands on a bottle of George T. Stagg? Great stuff if you can find some. (Limited production each year.)
Just to think... years ago it was just mostly Budweiser/Busch, Miller, and Coors..
Craft brews good... Like New Belgium Fat Tire and Odell's 90 Schilling... two of my favs... and just down the road from me!
