The democrat primaries are proportional, with stupid rules like you have to get 15% in every district to qualify for any delegates from that state. Because of the large field splitting delegates, there is a good chance at a true brokered convention and no clear front runner.

Republican primaries are different than democrat primaries.
Of course, but not sure what that has to do with my post. I am pointing out Trump is way ahead of where he was in 2016 when he beat everyone.

I haven't figured out - maybe no one has- the impact of the DNC's rule change on superdelegates this time around. I guess the outcome of the last election and the settlement to appease Bernie type supporters was that superdelegates cannot vote now until the second ballot if it goes to that.
Puts a lot of pressure on second tier candidates to cobble something together with other candidates delegates before the first ballot or else the dnc tier one candidate's superdelegate votes immediately kick in on the next vote. That is sort of bass-awkward from the spirit of past conventions where you usually let all the piddling little candidates and their small amount of supporters run their flag up the pole and see who salutes. Then you get down to real horse trading after that.
I dont know. It's complicated. I would rather try to explain the electoral college system to a European than the dem primary system.
Yup. Lots of crying about Hillary in 2016 made the system even worse.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they threw the whole thing out in the middle of the convention and went with the candidate that got the most votes.
I know it seems implausible but a horse trading scenario in this era would really seem shady to a lot of voters (even though it is the way our system is supposed to work).
Democrats aren't interested in backing a candidate that can win. They want a candidate that can destroy America as we know it.
Who do you think that is at this point because almost all of them seem cookie cutter for the moment. I was watching Cory Booker's Town Hall and saw pieces of Warren's and Schultz's and they all sound alike.
Look at what happened to Ben Carson, Chris Christie and Hilliary after they had to step out of the race and throw their support to the leading candidate, they got a nice job (well Christie got 15 minutes before disappearing). Most of those candidates know they have to stay top 4 by March/April to lock in something if Dems can win. It is like a public audition for Secy of ______ or Ambassador to [non shit hole country with a good rep].
I saw that, and yep, he was on a powerful path with that kind of thing.

Seriously, I read about his comment there and thought "wow" I think i just saw one of those lib fuckers choose to lower the temperature on the hate-o-meter a bit. Now that's something you don't see every day.
Might pick up some Trump voters too. Sticking up for the fast food joints is very Trumpian. Trump may bring him into his cabinet after the next election.
