Boomers: The Real Greatest Generation

I'm a noncombatant in these generational arguments. However, I have to say I view boomers' supposed achievements as suspect. Mainly, they represent overturning millennia of traditional values and roles and substituting narcissistic delusions.

I revere the Greatest Generation as courageous, committed and patriotic. However, they were naïve. They were propagandized into two ruinous world wars that could have been avoided. Our own country's survival was not at stake in either war, at least not until we got involved.

One thing that you are touching on is the entire point I am trying to make. The values and roles driven and demonstrated Baby Boomers are actually the exact values cheered on by liberals for decades. Liberals continually push moving away from traditional values and roles and substituting dependency solutions. Why is it that liberals suddenly are pouring so much hate on boomers - a generation that is a model for their values?

Because identity politics and the culture of victimhood is alienating classical liberals and libertarians. Somehow the Baby Boomers are the personification of white privilege. Baby Boomers are also strong supporters of free speech - which is triggering the snowflakes and must be curtailed in order to protect the offended. Free speech can no longer be a right because if any particilar persons feelings might be somehow offended then free speech becomes hate speech.

It's also instructive of just how far left the pendulum has swung. Hillary Clinton and Nancy Pelosi are not radical enough for them.

Yes, but only certain types of speech are subject to censorship. You can say anything about Trump for example. Mild criticism of Obama could easily cost you your career.

We are lectured that NFL players have a "right" to kneel. I wonder if they were protesting against gay marriage or illegal immigration how many sportswriters would be defending them?
 
The Boomers ruined everything the greatest generation worked for. They are the absolute worst generation in recent memory.

We should take all of their guns and deport them to Mexico ASAP.

You need to wise up.

The Boomers, collectively, did NOT do that, though some of the responsible were of Boomer age.

It was a very small percentage of the population... government and corporate controllers. It's unfair and innacurate to blame the "Boomer generation" for the actions of .0001% of the Boomers collectively.

The whiners seem to not understand... BOOMERS BUILT THIS COUNTRY. Their entrepreneurship paved the growth and development... and they paid the most in taxes buy a HUGE margin.

Not saying we should all kneel and kiss their collective ring... but still.
