Bonhoeffer, Trump, MAGA, and "Lock her up!"

If you have studied theology, political science, or philosophy, then you are almost certain to have been introduced to Dietrich Bonhoeffer's writings. Those who haven't run across Bonhoeffer before may find this YouTube video interesting. I am uncertain how accurately this video conveys Bonhoeffer's views, but it seems consistent with what little I know of him. Bonhoeffer believed stupidity was a greater danger to society than those who act with intentional malice. He seems to have viewed stupidity as a sociological problem innate to our species.

I still find it amusing how philosophy, sociology and to a lesser degree science aren't chronological & compounding, but rather detached and cyclical.

I'm sure one could dust off writings from Seneca and other ancients 2k yrs ago and find the same conclusions

That detachment from chronology and cyclical quality you mention may be characteristic of instinctive behavior we have great difficulty doing anything about. We think education may be our only weapon against instinct. I hope that's not true, because much of time, education proves inadequate.

yep. BBC a few days back decrying how even a few teachers and the like are not fully onboard about global warming ( that they now call "climate change").
Implied education must change so that 'science' is never doubted.

what does “implied education” mean?

science is changed when the new data in repeatable studies proves that the old theories are wrong.

can you elaborate on that, please.
Well, learning is action, and done repeatedly it becomes a habit. We are what we repeatedly do, as Aristotle (?) said. I think too many Americans have become lazy, resting on "their laurels" for far too long now, i.e. we don't need to make an effort, we're already the greatest, remember WWII? etc. "Their" in quotes because the accomplishments are those of others.
