bond futures

Quote from market_man76:

half an hour. come on man. the very front page of CBOT.com has a "calendars" menu........

IF it loads... What annoys me most is that it's always the morons with the slowest servers and conncetions who have the most gigantic high-resolution logos and the most elaborate flash presentations on their websites.

Monday evening through Tuesday afternoon, A/C/E Financials will be closed while all other A/C/E products will operate on their regular schedule. A/C/E Financials will resume their normal schedule Tuesday evening.

You can say that again! I just spent half an hour searching through their slow and ill-organized website, and it gave some sort of shitty, i mean equivocal, wording, something like "a/c/e closed for the day session and open overnight". I am reasonably sure this means that ZN and ZB will open on 11/11 at 9 pm EST and not before that time.

I also tried to find out the rollover date, and I am now pretty certain it is either the day before or the day after thanksgiving.

Why does getting information on futures from the exchanges have to be such a pain in the ass?! It definitely feels like they are trying to make it hard for newcomers to even develop an interest in their products.

where the notes and bonds open tues night on ACE?

perhaps some money flow will go into them from equities?

or might they open up more based on where japan's bonds trade
tonight and the bund traded today ?

The dollar value is more important then number of contracts. Why would someone want to pay 5 times the commision to execute 5 mini's instead of one big contract.

The answer is because the e-minis provide better fills to retail traders. Not that retail traders dominate the market. But you said "someone"

There has been published studies...probably by some broker trying to increase business....but anyways these published studies prove that the fills are better in the e-mini verses the big contract.

I have traded both and find this to be true. I personally know 250 lot traders that would not take the chance on the big contract and perfer the better fill and the huge increase in commmish verses a lower bottom line.

Also,

You can scale in or out with multiple contracts. Personally, I find trading 1 contract very difficult. Do I keep it or cover?

This is assuming one vs 5 contracts. If you have big bucks, then this is a moot point.

Also,

You get to see bid and offer and have a faster report back of trade with e-mini.

With the big ones you only get last trade and it takes longer to get confirmation of fill.
