Bombshell report on Trump taxes sends GOP nominee reeling

...but you cannot offset income tax charges with prior capital losses.

You offset income (i.e. gains) with losses. As I originally posted :) If you reduce your
income, you generally reduce your tax. If you've not done this as a trader, then I suggest
you file amended returns, and get the money you're owed :)

there is a huge difference between capital gains and personal income, at least from a tax/IRS perspective. I am afraid I cannot be clearer

Damn. I knew there was a point there somewhere. Oh yeah. Trump's taxes. Well, I can only speak for what I've (I mean Turbo Tax) has done. Reduce my (taxable) income by $3000 / year.

I am not a liberal, I am in fact quite conservative. Let's face it, Trump's only play is his self-proclaimed business acumen, agreed? He believes he can turn around the economy and put more money into peoples' pockets than the other candidate. His argument is that he knows how to do it because he is a successful business man. Hilary Clinton is widely believed to possess expert knowledge in foreign relations (whether you disagree or not is not relevant in this context). She backs up her knowledge with facts. So should Trump. He has not proven anything whatsoever that he is indeed a savvy and smart business man. Just because someone walks around with a Rolex or drives a super sports car or lives in a golden tower means very little in the context of competing for the job as American president. The hurdle is set a little higher than impressing some buddies with blink. He is not required by law to produce his tax records but as you can see his refusal causes damage to him. People start to become more suspicious by the day. Die hard Trump fans will stick with him (to which I count you I guess?) and that is ok, no criticism here whatsoever. But most others need more convincing and Trump just does not deliver in this area.

Let's abstain from name calling, personal insults, and attacks. Let's just look at the facts. You may believe that Trump can win anyway even without proving his business acumen and maybe you are right. All I am saying is that he does himself a disservice to reject to put on the table a verifiable track record to back up his self proclaimed business and negotiating skills. The "financial disclosure statements" he provided mean very little to nothing to most people.

I hardly know where to begin you have combined so many misstatements in one post.

Trump's "only play" is not that he is a successful businessman. His appeal to most voters is that he is the only candidate in either party who was willing to address the immigration crisis and make credible promises to do something about it. Ditto on unfair trade deals.

Trump has had his share of bad investments as any entrepreneur will. He also has a long list of trophy projects all over the world he put together and constructed.

You may think Hillary is some sort of foreign policy whiz. What I see is one disaster after another on her watch. In fact, the only real success of Obama's foreign policy was staying out of Syria, which she apparently disagrees with.

With Trump we have a colorful life with many successes and a few comments he'd probably like to take back. With Hillary we have a depressing series of scandals, coverups, crooked deals and nonstop lying.
