Boeing and Illegal Subsidies.

U.S. complies with WTO ruling calling for end to illegal Boeing subsidies

GENEVA — The United States Trade Office says the U.S. government has responded to and complied with a World Trade Organization ruling that found the U.S. had provided illegal subsidies to Boeing Co.

The U.S. and the European Union have been at odds over subsidies to the world's top two plane makers — Boeing and Europe's Airbus. A WTO panel has also ruled that European governments provided $18 billion in subsidies to Airbus, though not all were deemed illegal.

The trade office claimed the U.S. had complied with the March WTO ruling by stopping select payouts to Boeing through NASA and the Pentagon, and by removing some beneficial tax and funding policies. It did not specify a cost of the measures.

The EU said Monday it will review the U.S. compliance measures.

Looks like Boeing is out of the illegal water - should see a nice spike upward in the price...

Opinions are fantastic conveyance of personal views.

This is such a joke, considering that airbus and EADS is wholly subsidized by the EU. It's the pot calling the kettle black. Not only that, if the merger with EADS and BAE systems go through...LOL. Europeans are just mad that even with all the government assistance...airbus hasn't managed to outcompete boeing.

Read the history of the complaint war before commenting. US fired away with the complaints first. Boeing is gov't subsidized via grants and tax breaks, just FYI.
We all like rooting for our own team but make an attempt to be objective, ET already has too many childish debates like this.

"World Trade Organization litigation

On 31 May 2005 the United States filed a case against the European Union for providing allegedly illegal subsidies to Airbus. Twenty-four hours later the European Union filed a complaint against the United States protesting support for Boeing."
