Boehner: U.S. Will Not Default on Debt, But Congress Will Slash Spending

Quote from bettles:

Fed's in the red to China
A very scary thought
Not benign, a
Contrary monetary shot
To redesign a
New world in which Beijing has bought
The sway to say our rules of play may be for naught
And someday will be fought

"Bearish", by VersusPlus

LOL. If you think the US is in the red to China then I have a bridge to sell you.

Quote from piezoe:

Isn't it curious that practically all voters, regardless of party, are strongly in favor of both a balanced budget and tax reform, and virtually all politicians pay lip service to these goals; yet nothing of real substance gets done along these lines? Perhaps it's a symptom of a very disfunctional government.

Hey Pie...How you doin'?

I see something here in your post that is causing me to think.

Do you see any disconnection or connection in the below sets of words?

voters / politicians

disfunctional / criminals

because they are not. voters want a balanced budget as long as its not their subsidy that is cut.
ask any tea bag farmer. he will tell you that farm subsidies should not be cut because food is important.

Sing it with me: WALK LIKE AN EGYPTIAN...... [/B]

Haha, v funny:

All the old paintings on the tombs
They do the sand dance don't you know
If they move too quick (oh whey oh)
They're falling down like a domino

All the bazaar men by the Nile
They got the money on a bet
Gold crocodiles (oh whey oh)
They snap their teeth on your cigarette

Foreign types with the hookah pipes say
Ay oh whey oh, ay oh whey oh
Walk like an Egyptian

Blonde waitresses take their trays
They spin around and they cross the floor
They've got the moves (oh whey oh)
You drop your drink then they bring you more

All the school kids so sick of books
They like the punk and the metal band
When the buzzer rings (oh whey oh)
They're walking like an Egyptian

All the kids in the marketplace say
Ay oh whey oh, ay oh whey oh
Walk like an Egyptian

Slide your feet up the street bend your back
Shift your arm then you pull it back
Life is hard you know (oh whey oh)
So strike a pose on a Cadillac

If you want to find all the cops
They're hanging out in the donut shop
They sing and dance (oh whey oh)
Spin the clubs cruise down the block

All the Japanese with their yen
The party boys call the Kremlin
And the Chinese know (oh whey oh)
They walk the line like Egyptian

All the cops in the donut shop say
Ay oh whey oh, ay oh whey oh
Walk like an Egyptian
Walk like an Egyptian

Quote from AAAintheBeltway:

The republicans have had two massive opportunities since the election.

They also held the White House for 8 years before that. As did the Dems before them.

Nothing is going to change until voters change.

All the tough talk about debt is just a show. Someone is going to have to accept the blame, someone has got to pay.

When backed into a corner all the politicians say the same thing, there could have been a catastrophe, we had to do it.

If that doesn't work say the devil made me do it.

Exactly right. All I ever hear are these tired arguments about electing people who have the countries best interests at heart. Show me this group of candidates. Sure, there are small pockets of progressive upstarts, many of whom are defeated early on in the race, and the ones who promise change, never deliver.

The fact that there are still those who believe that something substantive will emerge out of this broken and completely corrupt two party system is remarkable. Election cycle after election cycle, it's the same garbage.

btw, anybody remember the initial bailout vote back in 2008? 90% of the response by the voting public was vehemently opposed to the bailout and yet it passed after some initial grandstanding. And here we are 2+ years later, and the financial hijinx go on unabated, with nary a concern for what the constituents want done.
