John Boehner, speaker of the House of Representatives, just purchased a luxurious condo in an exclusive area in Marco Island, Fla., for $835,000 on Feb. 11, giving rise to speculations that the Ohio Republican is planning to retire at the end of the current Congress.

The Speaker's spokesman Micheal Steel, however, denied the retirement reports, telling Breitbart News: "This area of Florida has been the Boehners' family vacation spot for many years, and rather than continue to put money into vacation rentals year after year, they decided to buy a condo. Their home is in West Chester, Ohio, and will continue to be."

The new home is located in the Tampico condominiums of Marco Island and is said to be a "luxury residence" in Cape Marco. The unit covers an area of 2,093 square feet and is comprised of three bedrooms, three bathrooms and an open-floor plan unit with a balcony offering uninterrupted views of the evening sunset.

The 14-story building offers a spectacular view of the Gulf of Mexico and island from its terraces, meanwhile offering the experience of living in a "beach villa."

All units in the building are a chef's delight, complete with kitchens equipped with Poggenpohl cabinetry, Corian countertops and a appliance package from the General Electric Monogram Series. The condo also includes master suites with spacious master baths featuring a large walk-in shower and a whirlpool tub.

Quoting the real estate records available with the Collier County, Fla., a report in USA Today says Boehner obtained a mortgage worth $650,000 from John S. Lucas Jr. in order to fund the home purchase. According to the records, the condo comes with a quarterly fee of $3,900.

Unlike many Congressmen, who own several properties, Boehner and his wife Deborah previously owned just one house in West Chester, Ohio. When working, Boehner lives in a rented basement apartment in a Capitol Hill row house.

I-----------

I wonder if that is the John Lucas who played in the NBA and who was a great tennis player.
(Lucas does seem like a nice guy, he used to say hello to us at Haynes point tennis courts when I played their with my tennis team a long time ago.)
But, I wonder why he is giving a mortgage to Boehner.

You don't think that loan for the condo was payback for something from someone?

sounds like when Obama got the adjacent property in chicago for next to nothing.

Money got the democrats to screw their liberal ideals and go from single payer to the Obamanation care act.

Money can get the speaker of the house to diminish his chances for speaker and betray almost all his constituents... and it can get a guy with presidential aspirations to do the same.

Money should not be allowed in politics. These mostly crooks should be in it for power not wealth.

Lucas lobbied money from Jem for Boner, who in turn used that money to buy a condo with it.

Speaking of money in politics (you're right)...

Wall Street threatens GOP on bank tax

"Wall Street is warning Washington Republicans: The money spigot is turning off.

"Rep. Dave Camp’s tax proposal — which jacked up taxes on banks and threatens the bottom line of some major private equity players in New York — has infuriated donors in high finance.

"Private equity and investment firms in New York are telling key Republican players in D.C. that commitments for big-dollar fundraising have been “canceled for the foreseeable future,” according to one GOP lobbyist with knowledge of the conversations.

"Lobbyists for Bank of America, Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan and others are meeting privately with lawmakers to explain what the bank tax would cost and how it would function.

"Big banks want to turn Republicans against the bank tax. The situation puts the party at risk of seeing a reliable source of campaign cash dry up right in the middle of a critical election year."

its obvious who owns these guys all you have to do go through opensecrets.org and type in a few names.

with democrats the donors at the top of the list are wall street banks and health care and law firms / lobbyists

with republicans you might take out one or two of the above and put in energy or
retirement.

plus whatever committees they run... will also chip in big bucks.

its really sleazy and its amazing how often wall street is at the top of the list.
the bankers get the free money from the FED and then they give it to the politicians and also funnel it to the law firms who also buy the politicans.

We get too big the fail, high taxes (to keep out the competition - so that capital formation only happen with bankers) and since they own the insurance companies we get Obamacare instead of single payer.

look at the lists...

its bankers at the top for almost all of congress.
