Bob Novak blasts Bush

Quote from ZZZzzzzzzz:

Do you think that maybe there are just a few support staff (not covert operatives) who also drive up and go in an out of the CIA building?

Or do you think that everyone who goes into that building is a covert agent...including folks in the janitorial service...

Geez, the constant stupidity of the neoklans and repugniklans...

http://www.crooksandliars.com/2007/03/16/putting-the-myth-to-rest-plame-was-covert/

What a brilliant idea. Have covert operatives pretend to be support staff at the Agency. Then when they show up in Timbuktu claiming they are the managing director of XYZ Corp, everyone will be fooled.

Or maybe the Agency could use the spouses of U. S. Ambassadors as covert operatives. No one would ever see through that.

Maybe there's a reason the CIA has been repeatedly penetrated by moles, that we seem to lack the most basic inteligence, that the CIA is blindsided time after time by things like the north Korean nuke program. It's called incompetency, brought about by decades of political correctness and meddling by liberals. The CIA was grievously wounded by the Church commission in the '70's, it was gutted by Carter, and it was politicized by Clinton. Today we reap the fruits.

I see you can't refute her claim to be covert.

At least she had the balls to go under oath before congress, something that the weak kneed panzy Bushites won't do.

If she was lying, it would be easy for the klan to find get proof from CIA records, and prove she was committing perjury.

But all the klan can do is try to swift boat her with lies and distortions...

We've been through this before. The statute gives a very precise definition of "covert" that is far more restrictive than the common understanding which Plame apparently used.

I will be the first to concede that the administration has mishandled this affair from the beginning. One of Bush's biggest failings was his failure to get control of the CIA. He left George Tennant, a Clinton appointee and former Democrat congressional staffer, in as DCI, and he has paid the price. The CIA became hopelessly politicized during the Clinton years, and Bush's only hope was to install a tough-minded Director who would ruhtlessly purge the Valery Plames from the Agency. Not only did he not do it, but when he finally did get a capable Director, Porter Goss, they lost him to political infighting before he had a chance to clean up the mess.

When the Wilson affair erupted, the administration again blew it. There was no reason to start a special prosecutor investigation. In fact, they should have started an investigation of the CIA to determine how a broken-down hack like Joe Wilson was sent on such a mission in the first place and why there was not the standard confidentiality agreement.

Now, instead of confronting Plame at the Waxman media circus, they cowered and let her play the victim card again. Incredibly, the new CIA Director apparently said things to Democrat congressmen that lent credence to her story. Why he felt the need to discuss her with them is an interesting question. Why he didn't testify is another. Why he still has his job is also a good question.

It's unfair that poor Scooter Libby is the only person who will pay a real price for this saga of ineptitude. Now Bob Novak is reporting that Bush has no intention of pardoning Libby, even as he stands by the laughably inept Al Gonzales.

The dirty little secret of Washington is that plenty of Republicans would be delighted if the Democrat crazies got their act together and impeached Bush.

To the repubniklans, the truth is incredible...

No, what is incredible is that the CIA Director is volunteering statements that undercut the administration.

As for truth telling, I don't think the party of Clinton, Ted Kennedy, Al Gore and John Kerry is in any position to be pointing fingers. Say, has Rep. William Jefferson, Dem. La., ever explained the $10,000 in his freezer? The same money he was video'd accepting from undercover agents?

How about just plain telling the truth...

Or is that a concept that you simply can't understand...

Hey how about this, you might understand this:

He tells the truth because he fears if he doesn't tell the truth, is not forthcoming, he may end up on the hot seat himself one day...

Oh yeah, fear of oversight will do that to folks...given there is oversight power by Congress.

I'm ignoring your Ditto Headed style strawman...

Shit, even a brown shirt republican like yourself will have to admit that for 6 years there wasn't much of an oversight process at all over Bush Et. Al, as darn near everything was rubber stamped by a republican congress.

1 Veto in 6 years...you gotta be kidding me...

Except for the period following Kennedy's assassination where Johnson got pretty much whatever he wanted, I have never seen a President get such a free pass as Bush did for such an extended period of time...

Quote from AAAintheBeltway:

Hillarious. In case you missed it, we had a special counsel investigation. It was a total waste of time, as no crimes were committed. To salvage what was left of his reputation, the special counsel iindicted someoen for supposedly lying to him about stuff he already knew the answer to. Pathetic.

If you want a cesspool of corruption and coverups, go back and sniff around the Clinton administration. Be careful though because odd things had a way of happening to Clinton critics.
