The poorest, least educated people in EVERY red state are Democrats.

Actually the economy does better when there is deadlock in Washington -- when Congress and the Presidency are controlled by different parties. The results in a situation where major policies are not likely and businesses are more comfortable in their planning.
That doesn't change the fact that major policies go in effect (like Obamacare) during that period, enacting vs passing something has a big lag.

Obamacare was passed with a Democratic Congress and a Democratic President. When Congress went to be Republican in early 2011 and Obama was still in the Whitehouse -- the economy improved and employment increased -- this was a period of time that Washington was in deadlock.
But the policy went into effect when Republcians controlled Congress, that's what I am pointing to. Same with most of the policies passed in 2010 under Dems.
It matters little when a policy goes into effect. Businesses have already planned and projected ahead for policies that go into effect years ahead.
More important is reducing the uncertainty in business planning. When Washington is in "deadlock" it is unlikely new major policy changes will occur - this fosters strong business confidence.
Then why is the economy functioning just like it was under Obama even with the current uncertainty and dysfunction in Congress
