Yea, I already have a meeting scheduled with Bloomberg reps. But I really don't speak marketing-speak well, so wanted to get some practitioner feedback.
Anyone out there primarily trade volatility? Any other tools I might want to look at? Orc Software?

Thomson's new product..... what a misery product. I took a trial from them (I trade a decent amt of rates related stuff on bloomberg) and found it entirely unsatisfactory. I stopped logging on after about a day.
It's worth noting that if all you have is a bloomberg terminal but no relationship with brokers, you won't be getting any of those broker runs/axes/commentaries/etc that martingoul alluded to. Bloomberg is the fixed income industry standard provider of calculations, an execution platform, and a communication tool. It won't substitute relationships.

So what exactly does ThomsonOne offer?
I'm more of a retail equity derivative kinda guy who is not exactly doing some esoteric vol strategy like selling ATM SPX straddles and buying SPX index component straddles cause there is a discrepancy in the correlation of the implied volatility between the two.
I have more of a multistrategy approach in my portfolio where I look to do some largely nondirectional condors, calendars, or flys on indices on a monthly basis in addition to structuring various spread and/or pure directional plays on some equities based on fundamental or technical analysis. Could ThomsonOne assist me at all in this regard (i.e. offer some decent ER) or is there nothing of value for me?

Keep the tips coming guys!
Any way to get to a "scanner" type functionality? I'd like to run statistics on any number of instruments and then feed the results into excel/table so I can filter for specific instruments.

So in order to get relationship with brokers, you just have to trade thru the brokers?
Quote from sjfan:
No, you have to trade size thru those brokers. By size, I mean expectations of at least 100MM in volume (for fixed stuff) a month for each relationship. Up shot: that also means every thurs night is dinner at somewhere nice.
Quote from mizhael:
Can a 10M fund get that kind of relationship?
Or how large size is the minimum for getting that kind of relationship?
